Bioprocess

A fundamental and in-depth understanding of bioengineering and processes optimizes the production efficiency of our ingredients. Our unique bioprocess maintains the superiority of our ingredients by ensuring uniform process conditions at any operating volume and encompasses the following interrelated areas:
Microorganism selection,

• Analysis of the microorganism, its metabolism, nutrition and growth,
• Conservation and activation of cultures, preparation for scale-up and concentration multiplication,
• Cultivation in specific culture media, enabling fast and specific growth rate, different concentrations and applications,
• Optimization of microorganism-specific characteristics,
• Concentration and freeze-drying.

Coating / Microencapsulation

Our microencapsulation / coating technology was developed in order to protect the microorganisms even under the most adverse conditions and to enable the controlled release of the microorganism at the appropriate site of action.

This unique coating allows the formation of a highly versatile and biocompatible protective matrix, which ensures the integrity of the protected microorganisms against factors such as temperature, pH or possible damage caused by mechanical stress during use.
Gabbia’s proprietary, patent-pending coating technology enables the use of one or more layers of protection (coating), varying according to the purpose of use. Thus, we maintain the original biological properties of the microorganisms and obtain ingredients with longer shelf life and that do not require refrigeration during transport, storage and handling.
