PET FOOD INDUSTRY
In the Pet Food industry, the processing is the critical point when working with live microorganisms, because the dry foods are extruded, and in this processing they go through temperatures that can reach 302 °F to 320 °F, eliminating the microorganisms in their natural form.
The viability of probiotics in the diet is essential to obtain the benefits associated with these microorganisms in animal health.
Gabbia’s microencapsulation technology has been developed to protect probiotic microorganisms by enabling them to withstand the challenging production processes involved in PET feeding. This unique coating allows the formation of a highly versatile and biocompatible protective matrix, which ensures the integrity of the protected microorganisms against factors such as temperature – up to 302 °F, pH or possible damage caused by mechanical stress in its use, as well as enabling the controlled release of the microorganism at the appropriate site of action.
The association of microencapsulation to the freeze-drying process allows the applicability of Gabbia’s ingredients even in more challenging production processes such as the manufacture of PET foods..
