BIOREMEDIATORS

Sustainability
CONCEPTS AND INFORMATION

Sustainability is the capacity of a process or system to sustain or conserve itself, while the concept of sustainability addresses the way in which one should act in relation to nature. Sustainability is achieved through Sustainable Development, defined as: “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The main objective is to avoid the depletion of the environment and ensure its permanence for future generations. In this context, we can make use of bioremediation.

Bioremediation is an ecologically sustainable technology. It is a process that uses living organisms to transform contaminants into substances of low or no toxicity, removing or reducing their concentration in the environment.

The use of bioremediators is also one of Gabbia Biotechnology’s areas of attention. Currently our research, development and innovation department works focused on three lines of action:

  • Bioremediators for application in industrial effluents, aiming to assist in the treatment of effluents through the degradation of organic components; reduction in the load of pathogenic bacteria and others;
  • Bioremediators for application in fish and shrimp ponds, aiming at the recovery of aquatic culture environments through the reduction of organic matter, reduction of nitrogenous compound levels, inhibition of pathogenic microorganisms and improvement in the formation of bioflocs;
  • Bioremediators for the control of environments in poultry and swine breeding, aiming at the recovery of environments through the control of pH and ammoniacal nitrogen, reduction of pathogenic microorganisms and reduction of odors and organic compounds.
